Best Buds

Bennett has fallen in love with his Grandma, that's for sure. He turns to look for her when he hears her voice and loves to smile and chat with her when she is near.

What a treat it was that he got to share his days with Grandma and show off his appetite, kicking moves, burping skills, vocal sounds, and cuddling expertise.

Thank you so much for all the special time you spent taking care of Bennett this week!

Back to Work and the Sun Is Out

SOOO happy to get home to this after my first day back at the office after 14 weeks. Of note, I cried only 4 times (very briefly) while I was away from my boy today. This does not include the dozens of times that I fought back happy tears while proudly showing off his picture and telling co-workers what fun I have had since his birth.

Going back to work stirs up many emotions, but Grandma is here to take care of us this week which makes the transition much easier and truly puts us all at ease. From what I was told, these two had an eventful day with Bennett showing his Grandma several of his fancy moves.

It was Bennett's first time sleeping overnight in his own room last night which was a big deal for us as new parents who have watched and heard him sleep next to our bed since his birth. And although this is not the actual picture taken when I entered his room after hearing him stir around 3:30am, it is similar to the reaction I got at that time. Such a silly little boy.

Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the great dads out there - and of course a special thanks to this one closest to my heart!

We all slept in today which was such a treat. Then, all the children (human, canine, & feline) had gifts waiting throughout the house in the places where DAD always goes to take care of them. We later celebrated the day over dinner with some friends/fellow dads. To top off the night, we said cheers at home with root beer floats, which has been a yearly tradition since I moved out here with my very own zoo. It was so special this year now that we have Bennett to share all of our moments with.

One of the cards I gave Andrew states:

It is said the most important thing parents can do for their children is to love each other.
I wholeheartedly feel this to be true and can definitely say that based off of this, Andrew has been a master at teaching baby Bennett all about the fine art of love, respect, dedication, and everything that goes with each. Happy Dad's Day!

The Mighty Wurlitzer

Congratulations to Lynn and Aaron! Tonight we celebrated their nuptials at their reception in Kenyon Hall, a very vaudeville-like setting and also home to the 1929 Wurlitzer Organ. What a great setting, complete with awesome food, great company, and even a disco ball! The circling lights were a hit for the wee ones.

PEPS

Here are the Turpin boys at our parenting group BBQ tonight - we finally graduated to the meetings where we do potluck-style gatherings, complete with beer and bonfires.

All the babies love it. We also were lucky enough to have two guest speakers at the 'party' who discussed core strength re-development and baby massage with all. Here we are just beginning to start the leg massage portion but Bennett was a little more interested in chatting than relaxation, so his session did not last long.

Pyramid

The days when we can meet for lunch as a family during the week are now limited since I start back at work next Tuesday, so we had to get one last midday outing in with Dad while we could! We rescued Andrew from work and took him to the Pyramid Brewery today. Then it was home for some routine goofy play time!

We also celebrated another birthday today for little Niko, another buddy for Bennett. We had a nice time hanging out with friends in some afternoon sunshine at his Mr. Man party.

Discovery Park

This morning we strolled along the trails of Discovery Park in Seattle which has awesome views and gives you the most refreshing, happy feeling inside. Later, we made a pit stop at Mike and Kelli's, and then had the A-Z family over for some grub. I picked up fresh dessert from Shoofly Pie today too, so we are ending the night with a piece of Chocolate Cream and Apple Crumble while watching our first movie together since Bennett was born. Thank you, Saturday.
