We spent the bulk of our afternoon gardening today...we teared out all the old plastic and laid new soil and went on to plant wildflowers/zinnias/sunflowers in the corners, then cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes, peas, beans, and broccoli. I love being able to pull fresh lettuce for salads all summer (but dislike the little bugs that come with that sometimes) so let's hope the critters stay away. We still have to add a little fence to keep the bigger critters out. Bennett was a worker bee and although Bryn helped, the swing always wins her over...Norah napped through much of our gardening then awoke and happily got her hands dirty with anything she could find. We then moved on to the little landscaping projects also in the works but will be getting most of that done in the late evenings as we can. Our yard is one of my favorite things about the house - we eat outside all the time (the bugs are just starting to come out for the year but we did get some bug-free dinners and desserts in already), and just today we saw deer, geese and their baby goslings, lots of bunnies, and ducks right in our front lawn. An honest day's work for all today!
