Out and About

So glad the sun decided to come out today! We love getting out and about for breakfast, errands, and nice walks!

Despite the cold and rainy weather we have been having this week, we managed to sneak out for a few photos along the water today. Brrrr!! It was a cold one though so we had to move quickly!

After a nice calm morning today, the 3 of us hit the burbs for some shopping! I think Bennett had fun being out with the girls and was a great little shopping companion.

We were sooooo excited that Grandma Nana was landing in Seattle today to stay for the week. It will be such a treat to have her here! Not only that, but Casey and Jen also arrived after driving out from MN as they will be working out west for several months! Bennett will get to spend lots of time with them and I am happy to have a brother living so close again. How lucky for us! We had a great day just hanging out with the family!

Bennett hit his first party today too - Fritz turned 3 so we headed up to celebrate with the crew. It was full of children playing but Bennett just slept the whole time being the party animal that he is right now.

Swan Dive

Bennett and Liam got to meet today! Like their dads, we predict a lifelong friendship for these two, full of fun and mischief of course! Thanks Slade for the visit and for the wonderful 'Swan Dive' dinner that you brought. Yum!

This is the beginning of a third generation Turpin/Bedford friendship at its finest...Liam and Bennett are already sharing their first beer!

Wow, I really love this being a mother thing!! We are having a wonderful week together, Bennett and I. We miss Andrew of course but try to keep him updated on things as we go. What a wonderful day of weather in Seattle too - we just had to get out for a stroll! What a great baby! Just had to shout how thankful I am for this little man!

Happy Birthday to Grandma Turpin today!! It was a wonderful visit with the grandparents and we were spoiled as they brought lots of treats for us. We only wish they could have stayed longer but we know they will be back next week, if not sooner!

The newly engaged (congrats again!!) Rob and Erin also swung by for a visit today. I had my first sip (yup, just a sip) of beer since last April to toast all the happiness. Cheers!

Bennett Maxwell Turpin is Born!

We are so happy to say that our son Bennett was born on March 11th, 2010. Weighing 8 pounds and measuring 21 inches, he was a good size and so alert and sweet from the moment he entered the world. When labor was over, I remember telling everyone in the room that "that was the coolest thing I have ever done" which got some chuckles. We spent a week in the hospital, between the NICU and special care unit, to ensure that Bennett's lung inflammation/possible infection was all clear before heading home. In short, it was definitely an extremely emotional week, but one or both of us was able to stay overnight with Bennett at all times ( I was not going home without this little guy) and we like to think that we are all stronger now because of the experience. We arrived home about 9:30pm on Thursday (3/18) night and I was so happy, I could not stop crying tears of thanks and joy.
And so the +1 adventure begins....

Thanks to our friends and family for all the well wishes, cards, flowers, gifts, food, visits, phone calls, and love that you provided throughout the week. Andrew and I feel SO lucky to have all of you and we are thankful that Bennett will now have you in his life as well!
