A Morning at the Pumpkin Patch

We headed out to Peter's Pumpkin Patch this morning where we hopped in the wagon, got out to the field and picked out a giant 46 pound pumpkin to take home.  Being dirt and pumpkin lovers, both kids loved being out in the patch and of course had a giggly wagon ride.  We grabbed a few more goodies from the little farm stand, played around a bit, then headed out for lunch before heading home.  What a perfect morning!  So happy for fall and all the fun it brings!

A Kiss for Sis

I even caught Bennett stealing a kiss from his little sis while they were sitting on the park bench this morning.

Thorpe Park

Thorpe Park has a great walking path and a big playground, so we like to come here for some exercise and kiddo fun.  The little pond sure is pretty in the sun and Bennett loves seeing all the geese.  We made it an early morning here today, with a good long walk, followed by some time sliding and swinging.

Friday Night Fun

We've been having some seriously beautiful fall days and have been taking advantage of it by grilling out all week.  So, it was nice to have Uncle Casey over for some burger night fun tonight.  These two really love their uncle!

Dad's Home!

When Daddy gets home from work, these two have nothing but smiles for him.  They love to follow him into our room, get up on the bed, and giggle away at all the funny things he will say as he stands there entertaining them.  Dad is pretty funny and they sure do appreciate it!

My Best Friend

As Bennett and I were sharing a hug and kiss before having to part ways this morning, he looked right at me and said, "I love you sooo much.  You're my best friend."
I thought about our little moment all day today and my heart melted every time.
How can I bottle this up and keep it forever?

The Dentist!

Today was Bennett's first trip to the dentist.  When we arrived and were asked "And who is this ..?", Bennett answered with an excited "ME!"   He was a bit weary of the dentist checking out his teeth at first, but then decided he was content in sitting in my lap and showing her his hippo impersonation after all.  He is showing off his new toothbrush and car prize here as we were leaving, both of which he loved so much that he took them to sleep tonight.

Little Walker

10 days after her 1st birthday, Bryn is a happy little walker! I am not sure what constitutes true walking....she's been taking 2-4 steps on her own for a couple weeks but now is gearing up to go full speed ahead - taking many steps, then perhaps a little tumble, then getting right back up for a little more.
Go Bryn!!

Make a video - it's fun, easy and free!

A Little Sunday Swingin'

Many Thanks to Nana!

A huge thanks goes out to my mom for coming up again this weekend to help watch the kids on Saturday night while Andrew and I attended another lovely fall wedding.  We feel soooo lucky to have you, and the kids of course love every moment with you too.  From the tasty treats in your arms upon arrival, to the craft projects you have prepared for the kids (and the ones you make for me!), to the way our house always seems to be cleaner than before you came - we appreciate every ounce of it!  We are glad you all had fun having a painting and pizza night!
Thank you, Mom, for all that you do for us!!

Cattail Trail

We've been logging quite a few miles as a family lately, mostly using early mornings to get out for nice long walks together.  This morning we drove up to Minnewashta and walked Cattail Trail.  It was chilly, pretty, and proved to be a great way to spend the first morning of fall.

Happy Anniversary!

It's been 4 years since we sealed our marriage with a kiss on Alki in the rain! And in these four years, we sure could not have asked for anything more! We celebrate all of life's occasions in this house because why not make every moment count? It is so important to us as a couple and as parents to live our lives with strength, purpose, kindness, and passion. I feel beyond lucky to have such a kind, generous, ambitious, family man as my husband and very blessed that we have Bennett and Bryn to share in all of our adventures, and who thankfully exhibit such a natural zest for life as well. We wake up every morning with a positive plan for our day ahead and we do not go to bed until our plan is fulfilled which I believe keeps us accountable, determined, humbled, and grateful for all the love and hard work that we try to put into our marriage and family life each day. It works for us.
Tonight, we celebrated with a simple, favorite tradition of ours and hit our favorite pizza place for a late dinner with the kids. During the entire ride there and home, we had A Simple Song (by the Shins) on repeat (Bennett's common request which I totally support) which happens to probably be one of my all-time favorite songs and one that perfectly fits into my state of mind/life right now. In it, James Mercer so beautifully sings the following line: "Could be there's nothing else in our lives so critical as this little home...." which is exactly where it all seems to begin for us (the song is lyrically lovely and hits home for me).
Life's simple moments definitely make me smile.
Happy Anniversary, Andrew. I'm thankful for sharing everything big and little with you. What a privilege it is to be your wife and the mother of our children.
Love you.

9/20/2012 - Two children later, hanging in B's room right after some past-bedtime reading when I realized I forgot to take a family picture of us on our anniversary and took one shot to see what we'd get!  Family Love..?

Great Night to Fly A Kite!

Indeed it was a great night to grab the kite and hit the park! Both kids laughed and laughed while flying the kite. The park we chose also has a baseball field, so Bennett loved running through the dirt field and finding,  throwing, and sharing all the baseballs that were laying around.
