Happy Halloween 2012

 

Trick-Or Treat!! Halloween was great fun this year! I was a parent volunteer at Bennett's class party this afternoon where I had fun playing with all the costumed toddlers.  We decorated Halloween cookies for snack then played a round of games before getting a giant treat bag and heading home to more fun.  We stayed in our neighborhood for some trick-or-treating where Bennett insisted on being first up so he could knock on every door and wanted to eat each piece of candy as he received it.  Bryn wanted to race walk everywhere we went and was content just squeezing candy wrappers and laughing.  We had our usual Jack-O-Lantern pizza for an easy, tasty meal.  Happy Halloween!!

Pumpkins!

 I love pumpkin carving time!  Bennett jumped right in and stayed focused painting his spider pumpkin (which turned out awesome and he was so proud!), Daddy made an owl pumpkin in honor of Bryn, and Bryn colored and painted everything around her while helping me with our biker pumpkin.  I think her favorite thing was playing with and eating the pumpkin guts.  Fun family traditions make the sweetest memories!

Ghouls and Goblins

Today we went to this great Halloween event, Ghouls and Goblins, at the Arboretum.  We went trick-or treating through the forest, which was planted with ghosts, spiders, monsters, witches, a spooky cemetery, and more.  Bennett would say, "that's scary!" while laughing, smiling, then going up to touch said scary object.  He even got to have tea with Alice and the Mad Hatter at their tea party in the woods.  It was a wonderful event for all of us because it was festive and included a great walk through such a beautiful area.

A Koala Bear!!!

The first time I asked Bennett what he wanted to be for Halloween this year, he responded with a very excited, "A KOALA BEAR!" and it stuck ever since.  He is one proud and happy little koala!

He'll even do a big koala roar for you if you want, especially when he's rolling in the leaves!  And, if you are wondering what they eat, according to Bennett, they simply eat "food!".

He sure had fun dressing up for our Halloween outing today!

Underwater Adventures

We decided to do a last minute swap of our plans today and headed to the Mall of America where we did some necessary shopping followed by a fun visit to Underwater Adventures and some lunch.  It was such a nice day to come home and play in the yard then head out for dinner with friends.  Yay, Saturday!

Little Talker

I attended Bryn's teacher conference last week where I was told again that she has turned into the class chatterbox.  She is a genuine book lover and her teacher, Ms. Karla, literally has her saying at least one or two new words a day.  They joke with me that I should bring in a daily list of words to teach her and they will have it done because she so willingly repeats everything she hears.  Today they had pizza for lunch, and apparently she got quite a laugh from the surrounding teachers when she said "mmmmm good!" before her first bite.

She will likely be moving up to the toddler class early because she has shown that she can hold her own with the big kids and loves it.

 Today when Bennett and I picked her up from class, she was dancing to "If you're happy and you know it!" where she exclaimed "hooray!" after Bennett did, and they both started laughing hysterically.  These little moments make me so happy and proud.  

My little Bryn sure does melt my heart!

That Was Fun!!

 What a treat having our nieces and their parents here for the week! It was so special to see all 5 cousins share in so many moments of laughter and to catch up on life! Thanks for all the memories, Texas Turpins!

We'll miss you all!!

Toddler Tuesday

The rainy day did not stop us all from having fun.  We decided to hit Toddler Tuesday for some discounted indoor rides! As expected, Bennett was excited and fearless on the rides and we loved being able to share in the fun with all five Turpin kids.
